I never hear anybody talk about doming dies - they seem to work
good. D.R
The Tinman Respondeth:
Sir,
The conventional doming or "dishing" sets made one size dome for each set of dies. 6", 8", 12", etc. Any
worker could move a blank disc through them enough to make a dish, and with very little more experience
he could make repeatable dishes.
For irregular compounds, though the dishing tools are the wrong thing. Our hammer dies though, are very
helpful for rapid movement of metal, or just for planishing those odd-shaped compounds found on cars,
bikes, and planes.
