Three EAA Technical Counselors (over 60 years' total experience) show you the procedures necessary to construct a complete airframe from plans.
Table jig construction, measuring, cutting, fitting, bending, tacking, and gas welding are shown in detail, along with the countless do's and don'ts which are usually only discovered by not only building many aircraft for oneself, but also helping others to do the same.
Small, medium, and large parts are shown and demonstrated in detail. See the reconstruction efforts on a wrecked Stinson Gullwing, and the methods used to insure its value.
What are the most-asked questions at Oshkosh Welding Workshops? Controversy of TIG vs. MIG vs. torch. Do gas welds really hold up in a hard crash? Preheating and postheating. Filler rod? Distortion? You will learn the traditional standards, the history, and what is appropriate for building and repairing aircraft 4130. This is a very detailed "workshop" program. NOTE: As you will find in other TM Technologies' instructional DVDs, all important welding sequences are filmed both up-close and through the special Welding Lens for very clear instruction of the welding method.
4.25 hrs. Two-DVD set. Digitally filmed, edited and mastered.
NOTE: Get the Combo Package: This two-DVD set PLUS the Repairs to Structural Tubing video. Three DVDs in all for $85.00

Images from this video are shown below:
Fuselage construction is described as an assembly of parts.
Small parts are shown first.
More complex parts are then introduced.
There are several ways to cut tubing.
Proper adjustment of the torch is detailed. (See also Setting Your Torch)
Tacking is shown clearly through the welding lens.
Split screen allows precise views.
Tubing clusters are detailed step by step.
Small jigs are simple and make accurate parts.
Larger jigs also follow the plans.
Time to smoke the jig.
Large table jigs detail considerable information and make repeatable large parts.
The Stinson Gullwing used heat treated truss assemblies throughout.
The wrecked tail of this SR7 Gullwing was replaced with a new part using methods shown on this video.
Production work in the small workshop involves all the neighbors!

"A few weekends ago while at the GoldenWest Air show I was able to pick up Kent White's video on 4130 Airframe construction. Being a welder of 30+ years I was impressed with the content and presentation, about 4 1/2 hours worth." Doug Knightmetalfab@pacbell.net
"I just finished watching the 4130 video series for the fifth time. Superb is all I can say. Each time I learn something new, and will probably wear out the tapes before I have grasped even half of the information contained on them." Thanks, Michael DeBoerSap - Georgetown Ontario
"I can't personally comment on the Meco torch because after welding the tail feathers with a Henrob torch I bought a TIG machine and never looked back. Anyone want a Henrob 2000 for a real good price? I purchased Kent's 4130 tapes at the same time I started the project and found them to be absolutely loaded with good advise. They cover so much more than just welding. You get good advise on how precise you need to be in measurements ( less than you might think, the steel is going to move on you anyways), how to make simple jigs, and general philosophy of building a fuselage frame. I really can't say enough good things about the tapes, I have watched the whole 4 hours 3 times." Rod Smith
"Let me pass along my thanks and gratitude for your two tape set on 4130 aircraft tube construction. This is bar none the best instructional video I have ever watched. I can't tell you how many small things I picked out of this series. I think I will wear out the tapes soon. Love the let's just do'er attitude. It just proves the old saying that the craftsman makes the parts not the tools or the books." Thanks Again Ralph Stevens Engineering Ralph W. Stevens Jr.
"I purchased his videos on 4130 welding--they're the best ones I've seen and have the most information, tips, and hints. Solutions to problems I didn'trealize I would eventually have. Highly recommended." R. E. EAA Chapter 1000 Bearhawk Builder
"As far as your video, I meant every word I said. I got my A&P license from Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics in '81. We watched plenty of videos,
and I had my share of good welding instructors, too. What you've done in that video set beats everything I have ever seen or experienced hands down. It's an effort you should all be very, very proud of." B.R.
"I'm struggling with learning OFW right now and your 4130 Airframe Construction tapes are a big help. Thanks," Charlie Becker
Executive Director
EAA Aviation Information Services
"I've been a tig welder for over 20 years and have done a lot of precision work, mostly in stainless and aluminum. I have always had an interest in chrome-moly but haven't had the opportunity to weld much of it. I do weld a lot of tubing. I really enjoyed your chrome-moly video." Don W.
"Watched the tape and it is really good. Wish I had it when I started." JJM, aircraft builder, welding instructor
"I really liked your 4130 video--it was a great, in-depth, and friendly way of giving good info on building the tube aircraft. Thanks." JG
