Spirit of St Louis
Kent was at Weeks Aircraft, Fantasy of Flight in October of 2002, doing a workshop series and some work for the Museum.

This topcowl needed doing because the old one did not have the right shape. This was done on the Air Hammer, and used some gas welding, as it was made in three pieces.
The topcowl was made for Fantasy of Flight Museum in Florida for Kermit Weeks.

Kent was there in Oct. 2002 doing a workshop series and used the Air Hammer to make this reversed shape at the back of a radius bent sheet.

The sheet was bent to fit the top of the engine radius, and then the back edge was reversed using the Large Reverse Die Set .

Two other pieces were additionally formed and gas welded to the top edge, one piece at each side.

The work was done in such a manner as to allow "engine turning" or "damascening" of the surface, as per original Ryan design."
