Copper strips

Curved flashings are never easy to find off the shelf, especially for custom windows and made of copper sheet.

If curved or arched copper flashings are needed, then the chance is that they must be made from flat sheets of copper. The process is a little involved, but for me, a lot of fun.

The process is a little involved, but for me, a lot of fun. I begin with accurate measurements of the arched windows or doors, getting the diameter within 1/16".

I make a plywood arch matching the window or door arch, and sand the lumps and bumps to make a smooth curve.

I select copper sheet .032" thick or what the industry calls 24oz. soft copper sheet. It is available 36" wide by 96" or 120" long.

I use an electric handheld shear to cut the stock into the sizes I need for the job.

Strips are then cut which will be bent lengthwise into flanges, or angles.

The flanges will then be curved to make arched angle bends.
