TM Dies for Flanges
TM Air Power Hammer Flange Curving Die
This hardened steel die is precision-ground to have a perfectly flat working surface. It is used in conjunction with either the small or large Upper Hammer Die to curve flanges (by stretching) that you have already made in a bending brake. The surface left by this die combination is almost a mirror finish, so in many cases the metal may simply be polished after curving. Die is 1-5/8″ diameter. Please note: This bottom die must be held stationary to work correctly (we recommend using a piece of adhesive tape to hold it in place. See our Air Hammer Operations DVD).

Flanger Die
This lower Flanger Die is machined flat, from an aerospace non-ferrous alloy. It must be used only in conjunction with either of the upper Shrinking Heads, but with no other die or head. This die may be easily damaged by inexperienced hands (read: apprentices). It is designed to create flanges around curves on compound surfaces. Both inside curves and outside curves may be flanged. (Inside curves are created through stretching, while outside curves are made by shrinking.) This die will do both operations. Other operations: Kent also uses the Flanger Die for shrinking bulges on flat surfaces, and the die will follow a pencil line (depending on your “operator skill”).
