Designed mainly for the aviation industry, these punch and flare tools can be used for any application up to 16 gauge cold rolled steel. Unlike the automotive style flares, these allow for a smooth, 1/8” deep flare at a 35° angle to the panel, adding an additional 1/16” to the overall hole diameter. These are the perfect solution for those working with high strength aluminum who want to reduce the weight of their project while maintaining panel strength. This style flare will not crack the aluminum due to a hard bend that is found in the automotive style flares. Please see the comparison chart below for better understanding. Complete kits are available. These are very simple to use: just drill a pilot hole on center for where the gauge will be mounted. This hole is for the draw bolt. Set one half of the tool on the back side of the panel with the draw bolt going through the hole. Apply the second half of the tool over the draw bolt on the front of the panel and tighten the bolt. The finished hole is smooth and perfectly round. Anti-friction bearings are included with purchase. If you plan to use a hydraulic or manual bench press, no pilot hole is needed. Just use a center punch to mark your location and use the optional spring-loaded center pin to insure exact placement of the hole. See the "How To" video for a demonstration. If you require a size that is not listed please contact us to have one custom made to your specifications.
